Pereira: Man Utd fans forced me to keep going

Manchester United midfielder Andreas Pereira admits he ran himself into the ground for victory over Chelsea.

Pereira admits he was feeling the effects of it being the first game of the season when he was substituted in the 74th minute.

"I was dead," Pereira told the South China Morning Post.

“But the crowd was so loud I felt I could run all day long. I walked around the pitch which was strange as I didn't know we had to do that, but the crowd applauded me and that made me feel very proud.

“The manager has told me that he has the confidence in me to play and that means so much to me. I wanted to show him that he was not wrong. Young players think like this.

“I feel stronger than ever and more confident under this manager. We have to keep our feet on the ground and work hard. I feel great, we feel great to win like this at home but we play Wolves next, a team who beat us twice last season. We can't do that again. We made mistakes there and we made mistakes today. We will improve."
