Pepe Mel has been named new coach of Real Betis.

he Madrid-born coach will take charge of the Segunda Division club on Monday in a bid to lead them back to the top flight.

The agreement between Betis and Mel is until the end of the season, with an option of two more if he achieves promotion.

It is Mel's first job since leaving West Bromwich Albion last season.
