People have written Leicester off but we expect to survive - Hammond

Leicester City midfielder Dean Hammond has stated that he expects his side to survive against all odds this season.

With Leicester currently languishing at the bottom of the table - six points from safety - many have labeled the Foxes as certainties for the drop to the Championship and it would certainly take a minor miracle for the strugglers to retain their top flight status this season.

Despite the odds firmly stacked against them, midfielder Hammond has made a surprise claim by saying that he expects the Foxes to survive as they will be playing without any pressure on their shoulders due to everyone already written them off.

Hammond said: "People have written us off - we haven't. We take it as a positive.

"No one expects us to get out of this situation - we do, we expect to. We are bottom yes, but it doesn't really matter at the moment. It is where you end up. We believe our performances have shown we can still get out of this.

"We worked so hard last season to get to the Premier League, we are not going to give that up without a fight. We have got a little mini-season, with nine games to go, six of them at home. We know we need to win most of them but we believe we can."
