Pellegrino admits January signings needed for Southampton

Mauricio Pellegrino believes that Southampton will need to open up the piggy bank during the January transfer window if they want to save their season.

The Saints are going through a tough run of results, and some fans are worried they may get dragged down into the Championship if they are not careful.

Southampton find themselves in 17th position, with only goal difference keeping them out of the drop zone. A 2-1 defeat at home to Crystal Palace on Tuesday has not helped matters.

"We know we need to bounce back in this moment. I think we have to do something to try to improve our squad, not just tactically but to improve confidence," said Pellegrino after the loss to the Eagles.

"I am responsible, like all the parts of this club, but I know that we have got a base and good players and good feelings to bounce back in this moment."
