Pellegrini unsure of Man City future for Kompany, backs Silva to rediscover best

Former Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini is not sure of Vincent Kompany's future at the Etihad Stadium.

Kompany was a key figure in helping City become one of the heavyweights in England and Europe in recent years but the defender has not been able to play on a consistent basis over the last few seasons due to persistent injury problems.

As a result, there has been talk that new City boss Pep Guardiola will look to dispense with the services of the injury prone Belgian international this summer and former manager Pellegrini has now gone on to fuel the speculation.

Speaking to The Guardian, the Chilean said: "I don't know what he (Kompany) will do in the future. It's very difficult to understand."

Even David Silva endured an injury plagued campaign last term but Pellegrini feels that the Spaniard is set to remain at City for the foreseeable future.

He continued: "He will return to be normal – David is just 30 years old."
