Pellegrini thrilled as patient Man City overcome Palace

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini was delighted for his side after they broke down a resilient Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon.

The reigning Premier League champions were well on top of the Eagles in the first half at the Etihad Stadium but were unable to come up with a goal in the opening 45 minutes because of wayward finishing.

However, a more efficient City outfit came to play in the second half and eventually came away with a 3-0 win thanks to a brace from David Silva and a late goal from Yaya Toure which was his fourth in six league outings.

After the match, Pellegrini praised his side for showing patience and working their way through a tricky 90 minutes against a determined Eagles line-up.

"I was always confident (we would win)," Pellegrini said.

"We had the patience to try to create the space. We did not allow them to have not one counter attack.

"I was absolutely sure we were going to score and in the end we scored three goals against a difficult team that defended very well."
