Former West Ham coach Stuart Pearce can understand manager Manuel Pellegrini moving for Samir Nasri.

A free agent, the former Manchester City midfielder is in transfer talks with the Irons.

“The manager has worked with him before so he knows him as a person. He obviously sees him as a player who can help the squad with obviously no transfer fee," Pearce said.

“It might be to the end of the season and see how he gets on. If you've worked with him before it takes some of the sting out cause you've worked with the person."
