Wigan chairman Dave Whelan can rule out a move for ex-Manchester City boss Stuart Pearce should he eventually decide to oust Latics' under-fire manager Chris Hutchings, reports the Manchester Evening News.
Pearce has agreed a new contract with the FA and remains totally committed to coaching the England Under-21s as they aim to qualify for the 2009 European Championships.
Pearce has made it clear he wants to fulfil his obligations with England and has said he is in no immediate hurry for a return to club management after being sacked by City at the end of last season.
Dave Whelan is a long time admirer of Pearce's and last year he called for him to take charge of England in partnership with ex-Wigan boss Paul Jewell.
