PAY DAY: Chinese Super League to offer Man Utd skipper Rooney £25m-a-year

The Chinese Super League is determined to make Wayne Rooney the face of their competition.

The Daily Mail is suggesting that officials from China's top flight are preparing a lucrative offer for the Manchester United captain in a bid to breathe life into the league.

It is believed that 30-year-old striker Rooney will be the subject of a £75million proposal over three years which would net the England skipper a whopping £25m per year.

If Rooney were to leave United, his most likely landing pad would be Shanghai SIPG, who are managed by former Three Lions boss Sven-Goran Eriksson.

According to the report, Rooney's representatives are considering his options despite the fact he has three years to run on his current contract at Old Trafford.

It is also believed that North America's Major League Soccer is monitoring Rooney who they see as a further star attraction to add to Premier League legends Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard who joined LA Galaxy and New York City FC respectively this year.

The CSL are reportedly also showing considerable interest in Chelsea skipper John Terry who continues to be linked with a Stamford Bridge exit.
