Fiorentina coach Paulo Sousa was 'saddened' by their 1-1 draw with Hellas Verona.

Mauro Zarate's opener scored the Viola opener before a late equaliser.

“I do not feel anger. Sadness yes, because everything we are capable of doing, we didn't do today, so consequently we dropped points," the coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“When you have certain figures on the field it can make a difference to the approach, but even then I never expected us to be so far from our football principles."

The Viola have now been caught in fourth place by Inter and are five points adrift of Roma in third.

“Everyone can walk tall when things are going well, it's harder when there are obstacles. As a Coach I must focus on the attitude and individual performance of the players, then as a consequence the performance of the team will improve."
