Paul Lambert now candidate for Sunderland job

Paul Lambert is emerging as a candidate for the Sunderland job.

The Mirror says Lambert has emerged as a candidate to fill the vacant manager's role at relegated Sunderland.

The Scot left Championship side Wolves last month after losing a power struggle with super-agent Jorge Mendes.

But he could soon be back in work at the Stadium of Light, with owner Ellis Short and chief executive Martin Bain giving him serious consideration in the search for David Moyes' replacement.

Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes, Burton chief Nigel Pearson and Preston's Simon Grayson are also among the candidates.
