Paul Ince slams ex-Liverpool teammates: Certain players didn't want to sacrifice to win title

Paul Ince has hit out at his former Liverpool teammates for blowing their Premier Leageue title chance.

Ince spent two seasons at Liverpool between 1997 and 1999.

"When I decided that I was going to play for Liverpool, it was a case of just trying to change the mindset of the players," Ince told Genting Casino.

"I'd been at United where the mindset was about trying to win a Premier League title, and the sacrifices you need to go to achieving that. And I wanted to bring that to Liverpool.

"Liverpool certainly had the players to do that, they had a wonderful, wonderful team, you had the young Michael Owen coming through, Steven Gerrard, Robbie Fowler, me, Jamie Redknapp, Steve McManaman, so we had a very, very good side.

"We actually had a title inside us for the two years I was there. But there was just certain players who didn't want to make that sacrifice to win the title, and that was a crying shame."
