Partick open up SPL account with comfortable win over Ross County

Partick Thistle recorded their first victory of the Scottish Premier League season with a 3-1 result at Ross County on Saturday.

A second-half double from Steven Lawless and a 18th minute opener from Kris Doolan allowed the promoted Jags to continue their unbeaten beginning to the campaign following last week's draw with Motherwell.

Partick boss Alan Archibald was thrilled with his side's performance despite them conceding a later goal to Graham Carey.

"We were desperate to get a good start and we've kicked on from last season," said Archibald.

"The overall team performance was excellent - we worked hard in training this week on what we were going to do and what we were going to play."

Archibald added: "The team out there was more or less the team that won the league last year. They have done well at the start of the season but the new guys will get the chance.

"It will be a long season we'll get injuries and dips in form."
