Parma defender Paletta: I was never given chance at Liverpool

Parma defender Gabriel Paletta has explained why he left Liverpool.

The 29-year-old was signed by Rafael Benitez in 2006 for £2million, but he made just three appearances during his time on Merseyside before being sold to Boca Juniors the following year.

The Argentine worked his way back to Europe and his form with Parma has earned him a call-up for his adopted Italy this week.

He told La Repubblica: "They covered me with compliments but I never played. I got tired of it and came home."
