Parlour: Arsenal should've gone to £50M for Liverpool's Suarez

Arsenal hero Ray Parlour is disappointed they failed to prise Luis Suarez away from Liverpool last summer. Parlour - who won the title three times with the Gunners - reckons Arsene Wenger missed a trick by not pushing harder for Suarez.

He told the Daily Star: "If Arsenal had bought Suarez they definitely would have been buying the title.

"With the goals he scores, I'm sure if they had him in their team they'd win the league. There was a lot of talk he was going to leave and Arsenal put a bid in for him.

"But he's been sensational for Liverpool since then and probably quadrupled his price because of his goalscoring and his work rate.

"I don't think he'll ever go to Arsenal now. I don't think Liverpool will ever sell him to Arsenal after the way they put their bid in.

"If they had bid £50m maybe they would have got their man, who knows? But if he leaves now it will be somewhere like Real Madrid."
