Parker 'immensely proud' after Bournemouth promotion

Scott Parker felt 'immensely proud' after Bournemouth sealed promotion to the Premier League on Tuesday.

The Cherries secured second spot in the Championship with a 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest at Vitality Stadium.

Parker told the Daily Echo: "I'm emotional, of course I am.

"I suppose this is the end of a long season where I stepped into this building and set a group of players a challenge of us trying to get promoted this year and we've managed to do that.

"The staff, the players, owner, everyone associated with this club deserve this moment really. I'm immensely proud and pleased for everyone."

He added: "I stepped in this building and I had one aim, which was trying to get this team promoted.

"I realise that was a big challenge, but expectation I can't control.

"I can't control expectation or a narrative, while I understand I was a realist and realised the challenges.

"You get to this point now and it's just relief. I'm relieved that we got the job done, I'm pleased for the players, I'm pleased for my staff because there's been a lot of hard work gone into it, so that's probably the main overriding factor.

"Happy as well, of course."
