Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew has played down claims that his club has had an offer for Rudy Gestede rejected by Blackburn Rovers.
Reports earlier this week suggested that Rovers had turned down a £3.5million proposal from the Eagles for the French-born Benin striker as they were holding out for a fee closer to £6m.
However, Pardew has revealed that Palace have merely enquired about a number of players they are interested in but have not yet made any bids.
"Not that I'm aware of. I think we've enquired on about three, four or five different players and whether they're available - that's really where we're at," said Pardew when quizzed on the reported Gestede offer.
"The chairman is pursuing some lines of enquiry in the right manner, in the way it should be conducted. Unfortunately, that is not in front of the press. I'm not going to talk about other players at other clubs. I don't think that's fair."
