Former AC Milan star Jean-Pierre Papin has declared Mike Maignan as the best goalkeeper in the world.

Maignan is in his second season at Milan after arriving from Lille.

Papin told La Gazzetta dello Sport: “Right now Maignan is the best goalkeeper in the world.

"He always makes two or three incredible saves per game, and then he never makes mistakes, he has the regularity of the greats.

“He was already strong at Lille, but the move to Milan made him make the leap in quality. The future is his, also in the national team."
