Panucci: Mourinho always wanted to coach Roma; Italian football suffer due to incompetent directors

Former Italy defender Christian Panucci insists Jose Mourinho has long wanted to coach Roma.

Panucci is close to Mourinho and is happy seeing him in charge of his former club.

He said, "Rome is incredible and Mourinho has always told me that he wanted to coach here. I am happy that he arrived, using many young players.

Roma satisfies everyone's ambition, not to talk about the fans. I played for many clubs, but they truly are incredible.

“Italian football is not competitive because of the incompetence of some directors. Paolo Maldini is one of the few virtuous examples, but we are no longer competitive. I suffer when I see some things. What I've learned is that great coaches need great players to win."
