Costel Pantilimon insists he is gunning to be the number one goalkeeper at Sunderland.
The towering Romanian gloveman joined the Black Cats from Manchester City last week and after playing second fiddle to Joe Hart for much of his Etihad Stadium career, is now looking to impose himself on his new club.
"It is very important for me to play every game and now I have found this solution," said Pantilimon who plans to edge out Vito Mannone for the gloves at the Stadium of Light.
"I want very much to return to the national team. To be first choice is very important to me, which is why I chose a club where I was wanted and where I had a chance to play.
"Mannone is a good keeper who played well in the previous season, but my goal is to earn a place."
