Pannu insists Birmingham chairmanship never on offer to Gold

Birmingham City chief Peter Pannu insists David Gold was never offered the chairmanship.

Gold left the club this week after seeing Carsen Yeung complete his takeover.

In the offer document to shareholders last month, The Times says it was stated that "the Grandtop directors intend that David Gold continues his long association with Birmingham City in an ongoing capacity as a non-executive director of Birmingham City and chairman of the club."

Yesterday Pannu said: "We offered him a vice-presidency and he said fine. The issue of the chairmanship was never discussed."
