Palace midfielder Danns favours Rangers ahead of Leicester

Departing Crystal Palace midfielder Neil Danns is excited by Rangers interest.

Danns's agent Derek Green admits the lure of Champions League football with Rangers next season would be too hard to resist if it the clubs do battle for his signature.

Green, who has still to receive official contact from Rangers, told the Scottish Sun: "You only have one career and you want to maximise that.

"Rangers are playing Champions League football next season and that doesn't come along every day.

"If that comes along then of course he is going to take it."

Leicester, are also keen on Danns who returns from holiday this week. But Green insists the player is in no rush to sign for anyone.

Green said: "Even though no one's been in touch you'd hold off because if the speculation is true then there could be Champions League football next year. When you come from somewhere like Crystal Palace and you could get the chance to play Champions League football you wouldn't rush into signing for someone else.

"Until you get that call either way then you have to leave your options open. We have got until August 31 to decide where he wants to be.

"Waiting another two weeks or so isn't going to kill him.

"The ball is in his court and he has earned the right to be in this position.

"He is a fantastic person first and foremost and then he is a footballer - it is not often we get that. He is a smashing lad and deserves what he gets."
