Arsenal have the inside running for Bayer Leverkusen teen Kai Havertz's signing - thanks to Mesut Ozil.

Despite interest from Liverpool and Southampton, the Sun report that the Gunners lead the way for Havertz.

Club scouts were deployed to watch the midfielder in action in Germany Under-19's 5-2 defeat to Norway recently.

Arsenal's advantage is that Havertz is a big fan of fellow German Ozil.

He once told reporters when asked about comparisons between the pair: "I look up to Mesut Ozil.

"He plays football the way I like it. He's always calm with the ball, never stressed. I love watching his games."
