Otamendi: Man City can cope without captain Kompany

Nicolas Otamendi has stated that Manchester City are more than capable of dealing with the loss of Vincent Kompany.

City captain Kompany has endured a terrible time with injuries so far this season and the Belgian international was once again ruled out for at least a month with another fitness setback.

Many believe that without the presence of Kompany at the back, City are simply not the same force but defensive colleague Otamendi has stated that the Citizens are a more than capable side, even without the Belgian star.

Otamendi said: "It is down to the manager to pick his team on a regular basis. Recently myself and Mangala have played together and we always focus on that clean sheet.

"It's always sad news when a teammate gets injured, especially this year with Vinny picking up several injuries.

"It's a pity as he is a really important player for us and plays a key role in defence. But we have other options, other players who can play in this position. He is a big, big loss but Manuel has other options."
