Multi-billionaire Amancio Ortega has rejected claims of interest in buying Manchester United.

The Spanish real estate and fashion mogul was claimed to have held exploratory talks with United by the Manchester Evening News.

But a spokesman for Pontegadea told AS this morning: "We do not know where this information came from. There is no interest. Neither in that club nor in others."

Pontegadea manages the assets of Ortega.

A more detailed and formal statement from the Spaniard is expected later today.
