Orlando City star Kaka, NYCFC ace Villa top nominations for Latino del Ano award

Brazilian star Kaka is one of the leading candidates to win Major League Soccer's 'Latino del Ano' award.

The Orlando City SC star has been nominated alongside 31 other players to see who will become the best Latino player in MLS in 2015.

The staffs of FutbolMLS.com, MLSsoccer.com and UnivisionDeportes.com, as well as talent from Univision Deportes, FOX Deportes and ESPN Deportes have selected eight groups of four players who were born in Latin America or Spain and those born in the USA and Canada with Latin roots.

Kaka is joined by New York City FC ace David Villa, FC Dallas' Colombian international Fabian Castillo and LA Galaxy's Mexican forward Giovani dos Santos.

The voting will take place over four stages - group stage, Round of 16, quarter-finals and finals - with the winner to be announced on December 4.

Regarding the voting, the MLS website read: 'The highest vote-getter from each group will advance to the eight-man knockout round, where players will face off in head-to-head matchups until a winner is decided.'

Voting for the first stage takes place between Wednesday, November 18 and Sunday, November 22.
