Orlando City SC have sent Jalil Anibaba to Sporting Kansas City after acquiring the player in the 2014 MLS Expansion Draft.
The Lions selected the 26-year old defender with pick number five in Wednesday's draft before sending him to SKC as part of the deal that saw the 21st MLS franchise gain MLS All-Star Aurelien Collin.
Former Chicago Fire ace Anibaba spent last season with Seattle Sounders but will now call Kansas City home as he prepares to force his way into the plans of his new head coach Peter Vermes in 2015.
"That's what this profession is all about," Anibaba told reporters.
"It's all about competing in every single aspect - on the training pitch, on the game pitch, even within the locker room in jovial things. I'll definitely be competing with Ike because we have a good relationship.
"Coming in, knowing someone like that and being able to learn from his experience within the club, will definitely pay dividends I'm sure."
Anibaba added: "I've always been curious about what it would be like to play for Peter Vermes.
"I love his intensity. I love his drive and dedication. He wears his heart on his sleeve, and I think I can definitely relate to that. I think I have similar qualities as well within my personality."
