Orlando City's Huddersfield loanee Paterson looks at BWP's Red Bulls impact

Martin Paterson is determined to reignite his career with Orlando City SC.

The 27-year old English-born Northern Ireland striker has joined the MLS expansion club on a one-year loan from Championship outfit Huddersfield Town and is hoping he can follow in the footsteps of fellow countryman Bradley Wright-Phillips who is now a household name in the USA.

Former Manchester City, Southampton and Charlton Athletic striker Wright-Phillips was the league's leading scorer in 2014 and Paterson is hoping to bring his experiences of scoring in all of England's top four divisions and two cup competitions with him to the Citrus Bowl for the 2015 campaign.

"I am 100 percent aware of what Bradley has done," said ex-Stoke City and Burnley attacker Paterson.

"You definitely look at other people's success and want to mirror it or do even better. Bradley's a great example of how you can change things around. I know if I work hard and train properly, I can be a success in the same way."

Paterson added: "I still consider myself young and, when my agent told me there might be an opportunity to come to Orlando, I was determined to get it done. I had known about them at Stoke as there is a big link between the two teams, so it wasn't a tough decision."
