One Direction's Tomlinson linked with Doncaster Rovers takeover

One Direction member Louis Tomlinson is being linked with the potential takeover of Doncaster Rovers.

It is believed that the 22-year old popstar, who played for the Rovers reserve team in February, will team up with former club chairman John Ryan to compete a buyout of the Yorkshire outfit who were relegated to League One last season.

"Following reports in the media, the owners of Doncaster Rovers can confirm that they have been approached and dialogue has taken place with external parties about a proposed takeover," read a Rovers statement.

"At this stage the club is not in a position to comment further about the level and detail of those discussions, but will do so as soon as it is legally possible.

"The owners are looking to ensure a swift resolution to the discussions to ensure that this does not impact adversely on the summer transfer activity.

"Any decision made by the current owners will focus on what is best for Doncaster Rovers in both the short and long term."
