Oliver Norwood hopes Scunthorpe success can lead to Man Utd breakthrough

Oliver Norwood hopes starring for Scunthorpe United will lead to him being successful with parent club Manchester United.

With opportunities in the Manchester United midfield limited, Norwood is hoping that an impressive spell with the Iron may aid his Old Trafford career.

"If [Sir Alex Ferguson] wants to call me back to United if I do well here then so be it, but if he wants me to stay then I'm happy to stay as it's been brilliant and I've really enjoyed every minute of being here," he said.

Norwood added that he had received plenty of encouragement from the Manchester United boss ahead of the move.

"He said to just come and enjoy myself," Norwood continued. "Go and show people what a good player you can be, express yourself and be confident and play the passes you do when you are with us."
