Obiang has a good feeling despite West Ham defeat

West Ham United summer arrival Pedro Obiang is feeling good about his future at the club despite the defeat against Leicester City in his debut game for the Hammers.

The 23-year-old midfielder, who joined the Hammers from Serie A club Sampdoria, came on as a half-time substitute for Reece Oxford in a 2-1 home defeat to the Foxes but suggests that things are still very positive in East London.

"I really enjoyed it," he told West Ham TV. "It obviously didn't turn out the way I expected, but it was a good opportunity to show the fans what I'm capable of and show the manager that he can count on me in difficult moments.

"I still think it was a good match, but we lacked that little bit of ferocity that we had against Arsenal.

"There's good and bad, it's mixed emotions. It's positive, because I was able to play and show my qualities as a player, and the downside, obviously, is that we didn't win.

"I've got a good feeling about the team and certainly, little by little, we're heading in the right direction."
