John Obi Mikel has hit out at Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney over criticism of Chelsea teammate Didier Drogba.

Drogba was branded 'off his head' by Rooney and accused of diving by United.

But Mikel rapped: "Sometimes people just try so hard to hate the club and unsettle the players.

"Didier had similar remarks against him before the semi-final against Liverpool and you could see how it inspired him to lead us to victory.

"We have a task on our hands but it is important not to let what some people say get to us.

"We have a lot to prove because people have said all sorts of things about Chelsea and some of the players.

"We think we can emerge as champions and make ourselves legends in the club's history."
