NYRB's Agudelo facing surgery after tearing meniscus

New York Red Bulls starlet Juan Agudelo is facing time on the sidelines after tearing the meniscus in his left knee whilst on international duty.

The 19-year old striker sustained the injury in the USA U23s 6-0 Olympic qualifying win over Cuba last week and has returned to New York to find out more from Red Bulls medicos regarding the problem.

Agudelo will more than likely to require an operation but is expected to be back training within one or two weeks of going under the knife.

The injury poses a massive problem for Red Bulls head coach Hans Backe who only has Thierry Henry and Kenny Cooper as recognized strikers on his roster as English forward Luke Rodgers continues to wait for a new working visa for the US.
