New York Red Bulls have announced the appointment of Chris Armas as assistant coach.
The 42-year old former USA international has been added to Jesse Marsch's coaching staff on the eve of the 2015 MLS season.
Marsch and Armas were teammates at Chicago Fire between 1998 and 2005 and the Red Bulls head coach is looking forward to again working with the former midfielder.
"Chris is a man I know well and that I grew up with in this league," Marsch in a club statement.
"He sees and understands the game at a high level. I think his experiences as a player are invaluable, and his attitude towards competition and style of play are in line with the environment we are building here."
As a player, Armas made over 300 MLS appearances for the LA Galaxy and the Fire in a career that spanned from 1996 to 2007 while representing the US on 66 occasions.
