New York City FC coach Patrick Vieira has confirmed he's held talks about working in France.

Vieira left Manchester City to take charge of their MLS sister club.

The Frenchman said, "I almost got to see Ligue 1? There have been discussions with Ligue 1 clubs, but the timing has not been the right one.

"ASSE? There were discussions. They were looking for a coach and met several people. I did not ask to leave, I am very good where I am. I met them, we discussed. We had a good feeling. They have a clear idea of the direction to take the club. They had choices to make and chose a coach.

"It was a friendly discussion.

"I have no reason to leave from where I am. I am satisfied with what I have."
