Burnley boss Brian Laws has revealed bringing Portsmouth striker David Nugent back to the club on loan was not feasible due to finances. Nugent had been linked with a move back to Turf Moor following a successful season-long loan stay last season.
But Laws told the club's official website: "On the advice of the specialist the course of action with Chris (Iwelumo) is to allow the injury to calm down and to get a clearer picture in the next few days.
"Hopefully it will be a small time out of action rather than a longer period. That will also give me an indication of where we have to plan and whether we have to bring in reinforcements which I will do if that's the right thing to do as the (loan) window opens again in seven days.
"A lot of media have been putting two and two together with Nugent being here last season and being successful and the fact that we liked him. However, the financial side of things make it unrealistic."
