Notts County winger Cal Roberts feels he can work his way back to former club Newcastle United.

Roberts was cut loose by Newcastle a year ago.

He told the Evening Chronicle, "The focus will never change. I want to play at the highest level possible.

“I still watch Newcastle because it's the club I want to play for one day in the Premier League."

He added: “I still talk to the lads most days. I'm still really good friends with them all, that will never end.

“There's no bad blood there at all, but you do want to prove them wrong. You've just got to keep yourself motivated to make sure you do prove them wrong at the end of the day to make sure it's their loss and my gain."
