Nottingham Forest are eager to sign Scotland hero John Souttar in January.

According to Football Insider, the Championship outfit are hoping to beat Scottish giants Rangers to Souttar's signature.

Souttar has impressed so far this season with Hearts, and scored for Scotland during a 2-0 win against Denmark on Monday.

The 25-year-old could be heading to the City Ground if Forest have their way.

The centre-back will be out of contract in the summer, and Hearts are likely to cash in on him if he does not agree to sign a new deal in the coming weeks.
