Nottingham Forest edge closer to City Ground redevelopment

Nottingham Forest are getting closer to redeveloping the City Ground after their lease was extended.

The ground currently has a capacity of roughly 28,000.

However, Forest have plans to add a new 10,000 seater stand - the Main Stand.

It would bring the capacity to 38,000 and make it the largest stadium in the East Midlands.

Other stands will also go through improvements, while new facilities will be added in and around the stadium.

Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis said in a statement: "After more than a year of consultation, we are now delighted to be able to present you our vision for The New City Ground.

"The City Ground has iconic history and memories for our supporters and these legacies were fundamental in our decision for us to remain on the banks of the River Trent and not relocating to an alternative site.

"This is our home and we will remain here forever."
