Nottingham Forest boss Cooper calm about job doubts

Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper insists the stay of execution given to him by the club is not impacting his work.

The coach who got the club promoted to the Premier League in surprise circumstances last season is in real danger of losing his job.

Forest are struggling to remain in the Premier League, with owner Evangelos Marinakis tempted to hire a replacement to try and keep the club up.

“I am in constant dialogue with the owner and nothing in the statement was a surprise to me," Cooper stated to reporters this week.

“The club were annoyed with some stuff written on the nights before games and wanted to put an end to it. That didn't bother me – if things like that do, don't do this job.

“None of us is immune to it. I have a lot of dialogue with the owner. The fact we need to pick up points win games didn't need to be in a statement.

“The conversations are private but all I can say is it's been pretty normal, the amount of communications I've had with Mr Marinakis.

“Whether he is at games or not I speak to him about whatever we feel is needed – that was the same after Leeds (where Forest lost 2-1 on Tuesday)."
