Not one Man Utd youngster has let the first team down - Riley

Joe Riley has praised all of the youngsters who were handed their first-team debut for Manchester United last season.

Seven academy graduates took their senior Red Devils bow during the 2015/16 campaign and 19-year-old full-back Riley felt that each and every one of them did the youth teams proud with their performances for Louis van Gaal's side.

Riley himself along with Timothy Fosu-Mensah, James Weir, Regan Poole, Marcus Rashford, Donald Love and Cameron Borthwick-Jackson were the seven academy players to feature for United last term.

"I don't think anyone has let the side down," Riley said in an exclusive interview with manutd.com.

"Everyone has done well, whether they've come in from the Under-21s or even the Under-18s such as Marcus [Rashford] and Timmy [Fosu-Mensah] – everyone has done well."

A great way for young players to develop is by being selected for pre-season tours abroad and Riley is hoping he can emulate fellow academy talent Sean Goss by gaining a trip to China this summer.

"I'm hoping for that involvement at some point," he added.

"I think it's everyone's dream to go on a pre-season tour and we saw Gossy [Sean Goss] do it last year. We'll see how it all goes and, if I get picked to go on tour, it will be an absolute quality experience to go to China."
