Norwich keeper Krul: Brighton boss Hughton gave me nudge I needed

Tim Krul has revealed how Brighton boss Chris Hughton encouraged him to leave last summer.

The Dutch goalkeeper is now impressing for Norwich City and admits a push from Hughton was what was needed after playing second fiddle to Mat Ryan.

"He was later also named Brighton player of the season," Krul told De Telegraaf of Ryan.

"The manager, Chris Hughton, then said to me: 'Tim, you should not be a number two. You are thirty years old and just have to play'.

"Norwich gave me that chance and so far have given me everything that they promised at the beginning of the season."
