Norwich boss Hughton keen for Murphy, Loza to make most of Southend spell

Norwich City boss Chris Hughton says he's keeping tabs on their young players on-loan.

Hughton is urging Jacob Murphy to make the most of his loan stint at League Two play-off hopefuls Southend United.

Murphy has linked up with fellow Norwich City academy product Jamar Loza after agreeing a Roots Hall deal until the end of the season.

"Jamar played well. I watched the game and his all-round performance was very good," Hughton told the Pink 'Un. "He looked what he is, an excitable young man delighted to be playing and scoring. He received the man of the match, which was a nice boost. Sometimes it works out well for them the first time they go out on loan and with others it takes two or maybe more loans, but it is an invaluable experience for young players.

"I want them to go and play really competitive football because you find out a lot about them. Some we feel come back and are ready and others perhaps need to go out again. It is also about making sure it is the right club for them and we consider that a crucial factor with any loan."
