Norwich City boss Chris Hughton has no doubts Ricky van Wolfswinkel will prove value for money.
At £9million, the 24-year-old forward is the club's record signing - but the Holland international has scored just once in the first six Premier League games of the season.
Hughton said: "You have to remember that Ricky has come to a new club in a new league.
"It takes that bit longer to adjust. But although he has not been scoring the goals, he has worked very, very hard for the team.
"He is used to scoring goals, but all strikers go through this kind of period. Ricky is not the first and he certainly won't be the last. It happens to even the greatest strikers.
"But he has contributed an awful lot with his running and helping others. The goals will come, I am sure of that."
