No Liverpool deal for Middlesbrough keeper Jones

Middlesbrough have scotched reports a deal has been agreed to sell keeper Brad Jones. Reports suggested the Australia international was set to join Liverpool, but Boro shot down the claims.

"Boro have confirmed that they have not reached an agreement with any club for the sale of goalkeeper Brad Jones," said a statement on their website.

However, boss Gordon Strachan refused to confirm that Jones would be in the squad for the trip to face Leicester on Saturday.

"I've no idea, we'll pick a squad on Friday of available people," he said.

"The big bonus is Jason Steele did terrifically well at Chesterfield."
