Lazio signing Juan Pablo Carrizo's application for Italian citizenship has been rejected.

The River Plate shot-stopper had agreed a £5.1m move to the Stadio Olimpico, but only if he was able to attain an EC passport.

This weekend it has emerged that the paperwork provided to prove his Italian relatives is not enough to satisfy the authorities.
