Liverpool misfit Mario Balotelli is set to join the club squad for pre-season training at Melwood on Saturday, reports the Daily Express.

The Reds plan to sell the controversial Italian striker in the transfer window but have struggled to find a suitor for his enigmatic ability.

Balotelli has been linked with a potential move to Turkey or the Chinese Super League but it appears as though he will begin summer training on Merseyside as the Reds continue to strive to find a club for the Italian.

The 25-year-old spent last season on loan at AC Milan and scored one goal in 20 league appearances for the Serie A side.
