No hard feelings for Swansea's Naughton after text from Hull's Meyler

Swansea City defender Kyle Naughton does not hold any grudges against Hull City's David Meyler despite the midfielder's tackle ruling him out for the rest of the season.

Meyler lunged in recklessly at Naughton during Swansea's 3-1 victory over Hull last week and the Irishman was duly sent off as a result.

Full-back Naughton was left writhing in agony and it was later revealed that the former Tottenham defender had suffered ankle ligament damage which would rule him out for Swansea's remaining Premier League fixtures.

Despite having his season curtailed though, Naughton is not holding any ill-feelings towards Meyler and has stated that the Hull midfielder took the time to apologize.

"I've damaged the ligaments in my other (right) ankle before, so I knew straight away that it was serious," Naughton told the South Wales Evening Post.

"In fairness to Meyler, he texted me to apologise and said he didn't mean to do it. He didn't have to text me, so it was good of him. I know it wasn't intentional, so there are no hard feelings. It's just one of those things. I just have to get on with my rehab now.

"I'm a positive person and my aim is to try and join the group again in some capacity before the end of the season, work hard on my fitness during the summer and come back fitter and stronger for the new campaign."
