No happy Catania return for Udinese coach Marino

Udinese coach Pasquale Marino saw his team dismantled 2-0 by former club Catania yesterday.

"Catania took control, but we gave them a helping hand," sighed Marino. "We weren't aggressive enough and took the wrong approach to the match. During the week we had some problems and it showed, although I expected better from my team."

Marino had at least one thing to be happy about, as the former Catania Coach was greeted by a warm round of applause from the local fans as he returned as an opponent for the first time.

"The applause from the Catania fans as I walked out was the only positive highlight of my evening."

It is an important win for the Sicilians, who are surviving in mid-table mainly thanks to their home record.

"We played a fantastic game, exactly as I had asked of my lads," said Baldini. "It was a similar performance to the derby we won against Palermo."

Giuseppe Mascara stepped into the centre-forward role due to Gionatha Spinesi's ban and filled in admirably with both goals.

"I must compliment Mascara for the two goals, but the whole team played well and showed this side can happily survive even without some of the big name players."
