The Nigeria Football Federation want Jordon Ibe to pledge his allegiance to their national team.
Born in South London, 19-year-old Liverpool winger Ibe is eligible to represent Nigeria through his father and the Super Eagles are hoping he will commit to them despite featuring for England at youth level.
Nigeria boss Sunday Oliseh visited Ibe at Melwood on Wednesday in a bid to convince the promising talent who is eyeing a start in this weekend's Premier League season opener at Stoke City.
However, the Football Association are keen on Ibe and may fast-track his development by handing him a senior cap in order to ward off the Nigerian approach.
